Best NEXX Helmets in 2022

Nexx stands for good quality with great looks

This brand has everything you need, whether you want a retro helmet or a futuristic-styled helmet. The high level of quality and safety that all Nexx helmets have in common. Because of their usage of cutting-edge technology, all of their standards meet (and exceed) all modern safety requirements. And, perhaps best of all, Nexx motorcycle helmets do so while maintaining a high level of comfort. Nexx offers high-quality electronics and accessories in addition to helmets.

Nexx (or Nexxpro as the holding company is formally known) is a motorcycle helmet manufacturer based in Portugal. They were founded in 2001 with the goal of creating crash helmets that are pleasant, quiet, light, and safe, and are made primarily of composite materials. All of our Nexx helmet reviews can be found here.

Nexx. Not Afraid To Be Bold, Not Afraid To Be Different

Nexx is a 100 percent European producer, which GetGeared finds very pleasing. Portugal is their primary manufacturing and distribution hub.

It’s no wonder, then, that they have a thorough understanding of what European bikers want and need. There’s nothing quite like a European perspective on things. Japanese, American, and other helmet manufacturers provide globally intriguing items, but there’s nothing quite like a European perspective on things. Passion and vitality are associated with places like Italy, Spain, and Portugal, and these emotions are represented in Nexx helmets.

Even so, with a history of fewer than two decades, it’s understandable that some riders, particularly in the United Kingdom, are unfamiliar with them. Let’s correct that.

Nexx helmets are now available in at least 60 nations, though they appear to be hard to come by in the United States. Because of its rarity, I don’t believe we’ve ever reviewed a Nexx helmet at MO. However, Thai Long Ly, our most brilliant contributor, and gear expert has owned numerous of them. TLL declares:

“I have a few of NEXXs.” Actually, I’ve had quite a few. The X.R2, X.R2 Carbon, and a Blade are all available. The advantages are that they’re extremely light… almost unbearably light. Aerodynamics and peripheral vision are both great. Because the viewport is big and tall, you have a good view of everything. There’s no whistling, and because it’s so light, there’s no neck discomfort on lengthy rides. They’re also reasonably priced.

“The disadvantages: They aren’t the most durable items I’ve ever owned. With repeated use, the lining peels, the fit, and quality deteriorate, and the thing basically falls apart. Oh, and they’re a little noisy… Not quite as calm as a Shark or even Arai, but certainly quieter than most farm animals.

Nexx Helmets was established

It wasn’t an easy birth, though. The Portuguese bureaucracy is famous, and launching a business in the country takes tenacity! Because no one has ever made a helmet before, skilled labour was difficult to come by. In some respects, this was a good thing. “The Nexx way” could be taught to others. From the start, high standards and meticulous attention to detail were part of the culture.

Nexx Helmets has been manufacturing motorcycle helmets in Portugal since 2001, and the company is delighted to say that it is still entirely based in Amoreira do Gândara, 160 kilometers north of Lisbon. Why? Because “we believe in concentrating all of our knowledge; this not only lets us keep our distinct philosophy, but it also allows us to know our helmets inside and out, allowing us to support and improve them better than anybody else.”

From Zero To World-Beaters In Under 20 Years

Hélder Loureiro, a motorcyclist with a passion for the sport, founded Nexx Helmets in 2001. Hélder gained great knowledge while working for another helmet company for several years. He did, however, see flaws in the products themselves. Plastic helmets were inexpensive, but they had intrinsic flaws. Fibre helmets had excellent structural strength, but the Italians were the only European makers. Their helmets were unreasonably pricey for many.

Hélder agreed that the market was in a rut. Designs are rarely altered. Technology didn’t appear to be progressing. Hélder set out to create something unique with the help of three additional investors. Something “Differentiable, Unmistakable, Unique,” as they put it.

“A Helmet For Life”: a brand full of new ideas

New people brought new production processes and fibre construction technologies with them. Nexx uses Advanced Thermosetting Resin to make their budget-friendly helmets instead of Thermoplastics, which have recognized flaws (ATR). The resulting shell has both high fatigue strength and “tailored flexibility,” which is important. It aids in the absorption and dissipation of impact forces.

Innovation

Nexx introduced the X-Matrix, a revolutionary material combination that combines the strength of fibreglass with the lightweight and structural integrity of carbon. It’s a one-of-a-kind multi-layered blend of multiaxial fibreglass, 3D organic fibres, aramid fibres, and carbon. It provides tremendous strength while being significantly lighter than typical materials.

Advanced materials science is only one component of a successful formula. You’ll also need the equipment to meet top-notch production standards. While it may be tempting to take advantage of the cost benefits that come with manufacturing in Asia, Nexx remains a 100% European company.

They’ve established a high-tech “smart factory” in Amoreira do Gândara, central Portugal, that currently employs 200 locals. It makes use of cutting-edge information technology and automation to boost productivity while lowering energy usage.

In addition, a large amount of money is spent on research & development. It enables Nexx to deliver designs to the motorcycle community more quickly while also boosting quality. As riders, we enjoy a steady stream of beautiful new designs and safer helmets.

Nexx: Style, from Urban to Adventure Travel

Nexx’s urban helmets have proved particularly successful. It’s a broad and fascinating collection that accounts for more than 60% of the European market, according to the company’s estimates. This popularity has resulted in some intriguing collaborations. Nexx was the first company to produce Hugo Boss helmets under licence in 2010. Swarovski crystals adorned a limited-edition Nexx helmet in 2012. They released a premium enduro helmet to the US market in 2015, in collaboration with Touratech. Other intriguing collaborations are in the works, according to Nexx, but they won’t say what they are just yet!

Nexx Brand with a Purpose

“A Helmet For Life” is the Nexx motto. It’s not a question of how long they think they’ll endure! This is about the company’s guiding principles. It all comes down to their pride in the “Made in Europe” label. The firm is guided by the ideology of Hélder Loureiro. A helmet saves your life, but it does so much more. It’s a joy to wear because it’s so comfortable. You will feel better if you have good style.

Nexx is a firm believer in staying true to its heritage. Their employees are all from the area. Their local economy is supported by their production. It’s not just about manufacturing fantastic helmets; it’s also about doing things correctly.

Nexx Helmets UK and GetGeared

GetGeared is one of the most well-known motorcycle clothing distributors in the United Kingdom. We’re in the fortunate position of being able to select our collaborators. As a result, we will only sell products that meet our high requirements.

We are able to provide a genuinely intriguing and unusual assortment of helmets thanks to our cooperation with Nexx Helmets UK. We’re blown away by the after-sales service they provide to their consumers. We’re devoted to assisting them in their continued development.

In the end, it’s all about providing you with the greatest helmet possible at a reasonable price. Nexx is one of the few brands that excel at this. It’s time to take a closer look at their enormous collection.

Urban Cred

Nexx helmets have long been a fixture in the urban helmet market. Their original SX.60 can be traced back to the company’s early years. There are now a dozen different variations to pick from, with some, such as the Denim, demonstrating how Nexx handles style in a unique way. But I don’t believe it’s all about appearance.

This is a strong Advanced Thermoplastic Resin shell that also provides optimal protection. There’s also the SX.60 Kids series, which offers first-rate fibreglass protection for kids. The SX.10 collection is all about having a good time. It has ingenious venting, twin vizors, and a small shape that fits scooter panniers perfectly.

Thanks to the X-Matrix shell, the X.70 is pure class and ultimate integrity. You can even choose between a flat or a bubble visor. Removable, washable high-comfort liners are standard on all Nexx urban helmets.

Urban Value

Nexx’s urban line includes the ingenious SX.100. For us, it’s unquestionably a high-end sports tourer. ATR is a robust but lightweight shell. At high speeds, the sharp aerodynamic styling provides stability. Cooling air is channeled around your chin and over your head via ventilation ducting. It’s paired with a specific air chamber in the EPS lining to provide all-day comfort.

Classics With Class

You may call it retro, but Nexx refers to it as garage. It’s the brilliant 1950s, cool 1960s, and funky 1970s reimagined in contemporary materials. The X.G10 is a traditional open-face with a modern X-Matrix casing. Wear it bare or with a visor, peak, or both. Its full-face sister is the X.G100. This may be fitted with a PX Lexan shield for improved optical clarity. The accurate historical style is completed with leather bands and popper attachments. With a choice of complete carbon or X-Matrix for the shell, an indestructible, anti-scratch PX Lexan visor, chin deflector, and ventilation system, the X.G100R raises the bar even further. The X.G200 is a dirt bike that takes retro to a new level. This is a light off-road helmet with a two-position peak and a ventilated and strengthened chin piece.

Double D-ring chin straps are standard on all Garage helmets. They’re long-lasting, straightforward, and faultless. Stitched interiors mix vintage design with modern comforts in garage helmets. The X-Mart fabric dries twice as fast as cotton and provides excellent insulation. It’s also hypoallergenic, sweat-wicking, detachable, and washable.

Designed for Speed

Nexx only makes one racing helmet at the moment. There’s no need to provide alternatives after you’ve nailed it. The X.R2 is all about making rapid progress while maintaining the highest level of safety. The carbon versions are only 1250 grams. X-Matrix variants are only 100 grams heavier. It’s very slippery and light thanks to carefully evaluated and improved aerodynamics.

The Air Dynamic System not only provides excellent ventilation but also excellent sound shielding. The visor aperture is one of the largest available, providing an unparalleled field of view. The Pinlock and tear-off compatible visor are so well-fitting that it feels like a hermetic seal. The benefits of X-Mart lining are once again employed, ensuring comfort in hot or cold weather.

Anywhere you want to go

Nexx makes only one adventure helmet, you could say. The X.WED2 adventure helmet, on the other hand, comes in three shell sizes and four different EPS liners, so it’s nearly custom-tailored to fit everyone! When you’re riding over diverse terrains and in different conditions, you want a helmet that protects you while not interfering with your riding.

The X-Matrix shell is extremely durable while remaining surprisingly light for an ADV helmet. As part of the aerodynamics and ventilation, the peak was created. It improves airflow while reducing buffeting. It’s also capable of supporting an action camera! The X.WED2 has had a lot of consideration put into the details. Even with thick gloves, air intake vents are simple to operate.

The liner avoids draughts and reduces noise while providing great ventilation. A second sun visor with an 80 percent tint eliminates dangerous glare. The chin portion of the helmet has been intended to lessen the impact on the chest in the case of an accident.

There’s also a quick-release strap for easy removal with minimal disruption to the head and neck. Nexx only makes one dual sport helmet, and it’s everything you’ll ever need.

All-Day Riding

What exactly do you want to get out of the ultimate touring helmet? With the wonderfully built X.WST2, Nexx has the answer. The XT1, its progenitor, has a nearly legendary reputation among long-distance riders, but Nexx is never happy. The X-Matrix shell is extremely strong. The best fit comes from a choice of three shell sizes.

Aerodynamics makes it easy to move around town and supports you on the highway. The ventilation system has been redesigned to allow for more flow, ensuring that the air is constantly changed and never feels stale. Even the high-comfort EPS liner has been incorporated into the system’s efficiency. The extra sun visor is actuated via a button, making it simple to use even with the heaviest gloves.

The X-block quick-release visor attachment (now available on several additional models) provides a secure lock while allowing for quick changes without the use of tools. If the worst happens, an emergency strap in each cheek pad allows medical personnel quick access without putting them at risk of injury.

Modular Marvel

For motorcyclists, the X40 Hypertech is akin to transformers! One moment you’re wearing a full-face helmet, the next you’re wearing a respectable 3/4 open-face helmet. The chin piece can be removed. You can choose between a visor and a peak (removing the visor takes less than 8 seconds).

Of course, Nexx’s greatest levels of security and comfort are included. X-Matrix is the shell. The chin is made of polymer and is strengthened. The adaptable ventilation system, as well as the additional sun visor, can be operated with one hand. Don’t be concerned if you fear such a daring design would jeopardize your safety.

The X40 is one of the rare helmets that has both P& J approvals. In both full-face and open-face modes, it meets or surpasses British Standards. You can go for urban, retro, street, or touring. There’s nothing else quite like it.

Clearly Communicated

Our Nexx helmet review comes to a close with a look at its Bluetooth communication system. The SX-COM2 is a multipurpose intercom that fits the X.70, SX60, and SX10 helmets and has a 200-meter range. It has simple controls and allows for individual volume adjustment.

A multi-point option, which allows two phones or a phone and a GPS to be used simultaneously, is one of several beneficial features. It has upgradeable firmware that can be updated automatically via the Nexx Device Manager, making it future-proof.

X-COM isn’t simply stylish; it’s also technologically advanced. This Bluetooth helmet system is compatible with the X.WED2, X.WST2, and SX100 helmets and allows for up to 900 meters of person-to-person communication.

Four-way conferencing and three-way conference phone calling are only two of the many features available. It also has speech, GPS, and music capabilities. This is a whole new level of motorcycling communication!

Conclusion

This Nexx Wed2 trail helmet is a fantastic choice: it’s comfy, lightweight, comes with a slew of accessories, and has a premium look. It is without a doubt one of the greatest helmets in its class, and you will not go wrong with it.

Nexx Helmets FAQs

Q. Are Nexx helmets any good?

A. Helmet selection is such a personal matter. The most vital consideration is fit, and the longer you’ll be wearing a helmet, the more important this gets. Additionally, it is low in weight. Nexx is a lesser-known helmet brand, which means it will be more difficult to find them in a store to try on in person, which is the ideal way to go (a Nexx store finder can be found here). If you’re buying something online, make sure to read the seller’s return/exchange policy in case the fit isn’t quite right. Nexx offers some pretty beautiful, light helmets, but the fit is the most important factor. Know yourself, and read as many reviews as you can before placing a purchase.

Q. Are nexx helmets dot approved?

A. In order to ensure the safety of our customers, all NEXX helmets are submitted to rigorous tests fulfilling the European quality standards (ECE 22-05), certified by the most respected laboratory (IBSR, Belgium). They are also DOT and NBR-7471:2001 homologated.

Q. Who makes Nexx helmets?

A. Since 2001, all Nexx helmets have been developed and produced at the company’s headquarters in Amoreira da Gândarain, Portugal. Nexx is pleased to be one of Europe’s few remaining manufacturers, with helmets distributed in more than 60 countries.

Q. What is the best motorcycle helmet for the money?

A. It’s almost as if you’re asking, “What’s the best food for the money?” What do you want to eat, how do you want to eat it, and how much money do you have to spend? If you’re looking for something light, Nexx helmets are a good choice, although most of them are on the pricey side. When new versions of attractive high-end helmets from boutique manufacturers like Nexx helmets are introduced, it pays to shop around for sales, as it does with many of life’s finer goods.

Q. Which Nexx motorcycle helmet should I buy?

A. Nexx bike helmets are available from ChromeBurner in a variety of styles. These helmets all stand out thanks to their unique designs. Every product has its own distinct design feature. In our range of Nexx motorcycle helmets, you’ll find some fantastic shapes and patterns.
